Word for 2022 and Gouache Fun!

For the past few years, I have chosen a “word of the year” which represents what I’d like to focus on for the next year.

Last year, my word was “Wander“, which I had custom printed on the pencil case for my nature journal kit. In 2021, I spent time wandering through our forests with curiosity, photographing and nature journaling beautiful finds whether it was a fern, moss or bird. Calm nature walks became such an integral part of every day and provided many calming moments.

For 2022, the word I have chosen is “Ignite“! I feel energized by all that I am learning about nature and the amazing community of people that I have met along my nature journey. I also want to ignite others with a love of nature, getting out into the forest, backyards, parks, trails and be curious to discover and learn!

I got a set of gouache paints for Christmas, and while doing a Skillshare class to learn about this paint, I decided to write my word on one of the projects. I think it turned out to be a great postcard indicating that “the sky’s the limit!” There is a lot to discover and I’m looking forward to sharing it with others!

Here are a few of the other gouache projects that helped me get used to this medium. I found that adding water to thin out the paint helped it to flow more easily on the paper. It was fun to mix colors and paint items I had collected on my walks. There is a lot to learn and be curious about!

Have you considered choosing a word to focus on for 2022? Let me know in the comments and about any fun things you are looking forward to learning!
