Podcast Episode on Journaling With Nature & More Inspiring Thoughts!

It was a complete pleasure to be invited as a guest on the Journaling with Nature Podcast!  This Podcast has been the greatest source of inspiration for me in my creative journey. I have been inspired by each and every guest (over 70!) and my wish is that others will be inspired even just a little through my story on this episode!

Episode 74: Karen Houlding – Chasing Butterflies

A few more thoughts came to mind after reflecting on the stories and tips that I shared.

Self compassion: Sometimes, in our creativity, there are times of doubt which erodes our confidence. One of my favorite quotes by Brene Brown from her book, The Gifts of Imperfection says, “Talk to yourself the way you would talk to someone you love.” This is so helpful in reminding us to be kind to ourselves!

Creative encouragement: Another amazing, encouraging quote is by Elizabeth Gilbert from her book, Big Magic which says, “Most things have already been done, but they have not YET been done by YOU!” She also talks about ideas as energy that races towards us like a meteor, presenting itself for our use. I get these creative bursts of energy!

Curiosity: “If a tree falls in the woods and no one hears it, does it make a sound?” Well, I can tell you for sure that it does! A good friend and I were on a nature walk, winding down a steep path when we heard a loud crashing at the top of the hill — a tree falling! It was a haunting sound and I’ll never forget it!

I hope you’ll check out the podcast — you’re guaranteed to find inspiration from any one of the 70+ guests! You are welcome to share your creative inspiration tips in the comments.

Warmly,
Karen
